When Cougars Attack: Kathy Griffin And Levi Johnston

I love the Internet’s “Dude, what?” moments. Today’s comes in the form of Kathy Griffin, who apparently walked hand-in-hand with Levi Johnston up the red carpet as part of yesterday’s Teen Choice Awards. A glazed-looking Johnston, whose seven-month-old son Tripp, who he fathered with Bristol Palin, responded to questions with, “I just, you know, look at her, shut up, and do what I’m told.” It’s unclear about what point of the evening he was referring to.

First of all, what was Griffin doing there in the first place? I don’t believe she has a teen show to promote, much less be on hand to receive an award for, does she? I mean, I’m way behind the times, I’m sure, but I don’t think you can consider any part of Kathy Griffin’s career as being particularly teen-friendly, unless it’s as an object lesson on what not to do.

Second of all, Levi Johnston is nineteen-years-old, so it makes some weird kind of sense that he’d be there, being a cultural icon and all. You know, for being the posterboy for unplanned teen pregnancy. But with Kathy Griffin? Who in the world put these two together? Is there some weird connection between Griffin and Sarah Palin that someone’s trying to bring out into the open?

Griffin, twice Johnston’s age, quipped, “I’m not positive, but I’m pretty sure Levi is not kicking it with the lesbian cruises.” And under his breath, Levi responded, “Only ’cause they didn’t have any openings for cabin boy,” directly after which Griffin smacked him on his ass and told him to shut up on pain of, “sitting on mama’s lap” during the awards ceremony. He remained silent the rest of the evening.
