A hockey fight spills into a cab ride home after Chicago Blackhawks Forward Patrick Kane assaults a cabbie in Buffalo for not giving him $1.20 change. Kane, who was with his cousin last night, paid the cab driver $15 for his $13.80 fare. According to reports, after the cab driver told him he had no change, both Kane and his cousin punched the cabbie and took back their $15.

Police were able to apprehend both Kane and his cousin, charging the two with, “second-degree robbery, fourth-degree criminal mischief and theft of services.” After learning about this incident the Chicago Blackhawks issued this statement: “We are aware of the allegations towards Patrick Kane. He is a big part of our organization and a team leader and we stand behind him. As we are still collecting all the facts, it would be premature to comment further at this time.”

I’m not sure how much players get paid in the NHL, but really, it was $1.20 change and what about the tip? Yes, we’re in a recession, but you’re a professional athlete. If these charges stick, I know Kane will regret beating up a guy for pocket change.
