Paula Abdul – who famously dated 80s rapper MC Skat Cat for a number of years in the late 80s – will not be returning for the next season of American Idol. American Idol, if you don’t know, is the show where young bucks get their souls raked through the sands of nationwide indifference and then one lucky winner is spat out the other side with a record deal yet is barely recognizable to friends and family afterwards. Paula announced this, um, announcement, on her Twitter page. Why? Because she is so fucking Web 2.0 it hurttts. Quoth the Abdul:
“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #Idol,” she Twatted. “I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon.”
And with that, goes the bumbling somewhat drunken musings of that which was Miss Paula Abdul from our television sets. Her sordid antics on air replete with slurs of made up fantasy words and positive affirmations of the cast will be sorely, sorely missed. We only hope that Randy Jackson develops a serious addiction to Quaaludes so we may have the funny back on our Idol.
