Chickolith: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift sounds like a fancy bird. A bird of prey. A wild and exotic creature that could possibly defeat a mongoose, or worse, a fleet of mongeese (or mongooses?). Taylor Swift arrived at the American mainstream and drank liberally from it, and spread her wings, and now flies around the country preaching her song as any songbird should. And what songs they are. With song as memorable as “Teardrops On My Guitar” and “Our Song”, which while none of us of Manolith have neither an opinion nor any idea what these songs actually sound like, we can all agree that Taylor is NOT infact a giant fancy bird but in fact, a country music sensation.

In deed, while most girls are making their way in the world, wading into the swamp of capitalism as a babysitter or a waitress, Taylor Swift deftly picked up a guitar and became a pop sensation, a tabloid sensation, and a country music sensation. As to her dalliances with One Of The Jonas Brothers, Miss Swift has become what us journalists call A HOUSEHOLD NAME. Well, not entirely a household name. At the very least, she is a kitchen name (which does not look at good in all caps). The gorgeous blonde nubile young Swift has been said to have many millions of dollars; a lot for a beautiful animal, true, but considering that she rose to prominence at 16 with the song “Tim McGraw”, it appears that Taylor is not just a majestic bird but also an affluent mover and shaker with pull and moxie and draw. As she spreads her wings further and further with the coming day and opens her beak once more and utters such aural gems that play deftly on ones ears like nectar on the tongue. Fie, I say to ne’er-do-wells and nay-sayers. Taylor plays her guitar with such deft clarity that other songstresses weep at the mere thought of her fingers flying over the fretboard.
