Oh, now this is brilliant. There’s a new app on the iPhone called Cannabis that helps you find licensed, legal medical marijuana organizations close to wherever you are.
But let’s say you live in a state that doesn’t have any sort of forward-thinking, progressive institutions like NORML? This app has you covered: it will also display local chapters of such organizations, so you can help tout reform. And all this for $2.99.
This has been said tens of thousands of times before, by writers more erudite than I am, and by speakers more eloquent, but it bears repeating just the same: marijuana should be legalized.
Full disclosure: I don’t smoke, period, pot or not. But I don’t get all the crap floated as rational arguments for the continued criminalization of De Ganja. Because in the end, they all boil down to “Pot’s as addictive and dangerous as many other drugs.” Including alcohol, which is legal to buy by adults, yet is still abused by non-adults; also including crack, which is several orders of magnitude more addictive, and illegal to purchase by anybody … and is still abused. For hell’s sake, humans, if you want to take the mystique out of something, make it legal! At least then we’d be able to reap the benefits of: one more taxable item; a whole new crop for our farming community to grow; a chance to offer it safely to people who might otherwise obtain it using less-than-savory means; the ability to truly make above-board long-term studies of its effects; and a range of other benefits you too can take the time to research.
The War On Drugs has failed, American government. You’ve lost control, and the only way to get it back is to Legalize It.

the only possibly good thing about California’s government bringing the state into financial ruin, is that they are now considering such “radical” ideas as legalizing pot.
to which I say – yes! yes! and yes!
