Apple released their third quarter earnings today and showed great improvement from this time last year. With quarter sales at $8.34 billion, Apple has increased their profits by $880 million dollars. While the iPod didn’t perform as well as Apple had hoped, they were still able to send out 10.7 million shipments. Plus their other products more than made up for it.
As we all know, Apple is a powerhouse and they continue to innovate, amaze and manufacture beautifully engineered products. This has definitely been exemplified through their bottom line with their net income increasing from $1.07 to $1.23 Billion.
Microsoft may still hold the market share with PCs, but Apple’s experimentation of other technologies, including smartphones, are beginning to blow the competition out of the water. The iPhone is inarguably the most practical user efficient smartphone on the market and with new releases every year it will be hard to see any real competition as a threat. Apple reported selling 5.2 million iPhones last quarter. Compared to a year ago that’s a 626% increase.
Macs also recorded amazing numbers last quarter after selling an unbelievable 2.6 million. That’s a record for June quarter earnings.

I wonder if the iPod numbers includes sales for the iPod Touch. I feel like I see that thing everywhere.
