shane-carwinShane Carwin is 6-foot-3, 263 pounds, and 11-0 in the UFC’s heavyweight division. He had a lot to say about Brock Lesnar’s recent win over Frank Mir this past Saturday — or, rather, he had a lot to say about Lesnar’s behavior after the fight’s conclusion.

“The flipping off of the fans that just lined your pocket with millions of dollars is just LAME,” he wrote in his personal blog. “The fans are why we do this Brock, this sport is not about fat paychecks and drama … It doesn’t matter if you win or lose; it matters how you win or lose.” [emphasis added]

It’s clear that Carwin wants a shot at Lesnar, but to get that shot he’ll have to go through Cain Velasquez in UFC 104, which takes place in October. Velasquez is himself undefeated at 6-0, so it won’t be a turkey shoot. But by making it personal this way, Carwin has raised the stakes for an eventual matchup between him and Lesnar.

But to return to his point, I don’t know, I kind of liked Lesnar’s bringing a bit of WWE action to the octagon. I feel like the UFC could use a few straight-up villains, guys that you love to hate. It just adds more color to the proceedings in general. And although Lesnar later apologized for his actions at the post-fight conference, putting it down to being “amped up”, I saw his winning rampage as sheer marketing. By angering fans the way he did, he’s guaranteed himself an audience that will watch every fight of his, just for the chance to watch him get taken out. Will Carwin be the one?

carwin, your a fighter. Im a fan. Im telling you "dont worry about us". Us fans are so impressed with lesnar. We freakin love the guy no matter what he says. So dont concern yourself. Warning: Dont piss off lesnar or he will be raging animal. I really think that lesnar is gonna accidentally kill someone. He had respect for randy couture and randy did a little better than frank mir

so long as it doesn't get into the scripted drama of WWE, etc. I agree, a little drama can be a good, even fun, thing. but once it turns into a soap that focuses more on the drama than the sport, that's when it's gone way too far. let's hope that doesn't happen.

This is a sport not a "show". The UFC prides itself in being a class act and has a hard enough time operating with integrity while constantly under attack by mainstream society. UFC has made it mainstream they do not need that kind of garbage tarnishing the name of UFC or MMA in general. If that is the kind of garbage that turns you on you just don't get it.

PS: Dana turned the UFC into what it is today... A SPORT. He will not stand by and allow Brock to muddy up the water and take away from the professionalism the world class fighters struggle so hard to maintain and add to the stigma skeptics have haunted MMA with in feeble attempts at preventing the astronomical unprecedented growth Zuffa, UFC, and MMA in its entirety have made.

I was a little taken back by Brock's professionalism, but that's to expected after all look where he came from. I feel that when they pull that kind of garbage that they should be fined for the 1st offense and there title taken away on the 2nd to show them that this is a respectable sport and they will do what it takes to stay this way. I also think that shane is not the answer for Brock I would much rather see the Big Foot take him on.

i agree with Carwin. Lesnar shouldnt bring that WWE CRAP into the octagon. UFC is a real sport. it dosent have scripts it dosent have crappy fake drama. the fighters respect each other, they may not like each other, but they respect each other. Brock Lesnar is a douche bag that is just in it for the money and who has no respect for his fellow fighters. look at fighters like Forest Griffin, who are humble and dont stir up crap. i cant wait to see Carwin kick Lesnars butt. i personally hate Brock and cant wait to see him out of the UFC.

oh come on guys, i understand professionalism, but we need characters, look at ali in his prime, he was a DOUCHE, he called frazier a damned gorilla... and how is it that dana dares to talk about professionalism when he drops millions of F bombs a second. last point. you're watching men fight, go tattle to the teacher if you're offended by a raging adrenaline induced beast fingering the crowd that just smashed someone's face in..
