the thing at about the very top about if twitter will take over..i dont really think so bc people use facebook like twitter with the ‘whats on your mind?’ thing..except on facebook you can say more from a cell phone. i havent used a computer for twitter so maybe you can type more from a computer. buuut no i dont think twitter will take over-just saying. and myspace facebook and twitter all have the status updates.

Twitter is all about making friends in a better way. That why it grows like crazy. I found twitter is the best way to build a community within my niche. It grows fast and its easy.

Love the graphic! Thanks for the entertaining and informative Twitter history lesson.

Up until a few months ago I only had a vague idea of what Twitter was and definitely never thought I would find a use for it. Then a brilliant techie friend and writer came up with the idea of using it as the basis for a fictional story telling experiment and the next thing I knew we had Tweet Mystery of Death up and running and I was tweeting dozens of times a day, sending twitpics, using Twiturm for music and sound bites and reconfiguring my Tweetdeck to keep track of the characters and all the murder and mayhem they were involved in.

All in all, it’s been not only lots of fun, but a great learning adventure. Thanks for adding the historical perspective to it as well!

Twitter is a great tool for finding current events which is where search engines and other social network tools fail. If I go to twitter and type in ‘Portland’ into the search you bet I will find up to the minute tweets on events or things that are going on around town.

That is the one good thing about it. Plus I own a few websites and they get the majority of there traffic now from twitter and people twitting the urls. I don’t have to do any web promotion at all and can let others promote it for me instantly.

I like it.

The whole “Facebook v Twitter” debate is silly. Twitter offers a vastly different service then Facebook does, and it would make sense people would have both. If they could only have one I think it would be Facebook, just because of the photo/messaging/video etc. abilities that twitter doesn’t have.
