Some of you may have noticed that your third party Twitter app (read: an application for Twitter) have ceased to work for the last few days.

This is due to some serious Y2K shit going down with Twitter. It has something to do with negative numbers and seeing as we here at Manolith barely made it through college let alone the big wide world here’s a paraphrase from ‘Twitapocolypse’.

The Twitpocalypse is similar to the Y2K bug. Very soon the unique identifier associated to each tweet will exceed 2,147,483,6471

For some of your favorite third-party Twitter services not designed to handle such a case, the sequence will suddenly turn into negative numbers. At this point, they are very likely to malfunction or crash.

For instance, Twitterific stopped working. And I paid $3 for that thing! I KNOOOOW!

For more info go here: Twitopocolypse.
