Goforth And Screw Up!

When Barack Obama assumed the presidency, it was hoped by many that his term in office would help to shine a light on the continuing racism in this country. As it turns out, this is a problem in all areas, including the legislative branch of the government itself.

Sherri Goforth, an executive assistant for Tennessee State Representative Diane Black, made a critical error when she forwarded an incredibly offensive picture to a fellow staffer. Titled “Historical Keepsake Photo”, it depicts the history of America’s presidents in sequential order, with Obama’s place occupied by a pair of wide cartoony eyes against a black background.

First of all, what the fuck? Second of all, if you’re acting as the representative for even a minor political figure, don’t you think you should act with a bit more tact than this? You might want to keep your bigoted chuckles to yourself, rather than forwarding it to over 20 of your colleagues. Third of all, taste the irony in committing this gaffe while working for someone named “Black”. Fourth of all, this is the Internet, you moron. Don’t you get how widespread this has become?

Fifth of all, when taken to task for this stupidity, Goforth’s response was “I went on the wrong email and I inadvertently hit the wrong button. I’m very sick about it, and it’s one of those things I can’t change or take back.” She’s sorry that she sent it to the wrong people? I’d really like to know who the right people are.

On top of all this, Goforth has been chastized, but not fired. Now, I don’t mean to tell someone their job, but this woman needs to be fired immediately, if not sooner. In Obama’s America, this kind of crap should not be allowed or forgiven. Representative Black, this reflects badly on you, too. Drop Sherri Goforth and send the right kind of message to the nation.
