lakers-championship

The Los Angeles Lakers are the 2009 world champs and they might not be getting a victory parade. At least that’s what they thought yesterday when the city of LA balked at their expensive parade proposal. The $2.1 million dollar estimated cost for the citywide parade was far too expensive for the Los Angeles’ city budget. Apparently they were able to work something out because Mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa said “We confirm there is going to be a parade and we’re working on the cost issue.”

The Lakers offered to pay half the cost due to the city’s current economic circumstance. But I think they should pay the whole thing. They charge thousands of dollars for single game playoff seats and then expect taxpayers to pay for the parade. That’s ridicolous.

For an overcrowded parade that causes traffic, instigates riots and produces bad dancing (see Mark Madsen) I’m not too thrilled. The Lakers have enough money to sponsor 3 championship parades and Owner Jerry Buss knows that.

There's only one legitimate place I've found to watch the parade live, the rest seem like scams :-/ You can see it over here though: vostuuDOTcomSLASHwatch28015 They make you do a little survey but after that it's good to go :)

So saaad! Boo-Hoo! You mean even after they win the championship, not one of the dozens of millionaire celebrities (the media keeps us bored by showing them off) and how they support LA have the least thought of pitching in for the parade!? Just as I figured all along... the whole city of LA is a freaking zoo! Let's see, You've got monkeys on the street running a muck, wild birds flapping their wings and snapping their beaks yelling out but do not get involved. The rhinos and elephants try to turn over cars, the gorillas (city officials) and the fish (celebrities with the Laker colors) sit back and watch from behind the glass of their aquarium(TV) , I'd be kind enough to throw you all some food, but the sign at the LA city limits says 'Do Not Feed The Animals'.
