What do you do when a you get a phone call saying that your house has successfully been demolished? For Al Byrd, shocked was the only word that could come to mind. Led by an inaccurate GPS device, Georgia’s finest demolishing crew wrecked the house Byrd’s father built, almost 60 years ago. “It’s just incredulous that something like this can happen and no one contacts the owner,” Byrd said.
This isn’t the first time a GPS device has caused harm. A couple of months ago a British man almost drove off the edge of the cliff after his GPS system told him it was a road. But really, how can you blame a device you have full control over. Just doesn’t make any sense.
Byrd, who tells reporters that the heirlooms and memories of that house have been lost forever, is completely devastated. The wrecking crew had a good excuse though, admitting that they only demolished the house once they learned no one was inside. These men don’t deserved to be ridiculed, they deserve to be homeless!
