Jimmy Page. The Edge. Jack White. You might argue with your friends over who are the most influential guitarists of all time, but that would be beside the point. You can clearly make a distinction between these three artists and recognize that they each bring something unique to the table. That’s the concept behind “It Might Get Loud”, a documentary about nothing more or less than these three guitarists getting together to … get together.
If you’re a fan of rock ‘n’ roll at all, this has to get you excited, regardless of your personal feelings toward any one of these three greats. There are enough stylistic differences between them to fuel great debates for days, and hopefully that’s what will make this movie worth watching.
Interestingly, I don’t recall ever hearing Jimmy Page’s speaking voice before. As The Edge says in the trailer, “This is my voice”. You almost expect Page and Edge to do nothing but play licks at each other to make themselves understood, and you know what? An hour and a half of that would be just fine. Three generations of vibrant guitar musicianship in one room together … magical.
“It Might Get Loud” is being released on August 14th; make sure you check this thing out!

Jimmy Page and Jack White are awesome. Not as much a fan of The Edge, but whatever. This still looks great.
