Happy National Donut Day; Free Donuts Too

Today is National Donut Day and that means free Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme for all. The two breakfast dessert titans will be giving away one free donut to every asking customer. If you live in an area that doesn’t have either chain, I’d suggest writing your local congressman. If you do it now you might get one just in time for next year’s National Donut Day!

Krispy Kreme was the craze a few years back, even prompting Chris Rock to make this statement: “Krispy Kreme? Kracky Kreme. Krispy Kreme Donuts are so good, if I told you it had crack in it, you would be like, ‘I knew it was something in there.’ These donuts are too good.”

Dunkin Donuts have always been my donut of choice. They seem to do a good job of gourmet frying and just right sugaring. However, the best donuts are usually at unsuspecting mom and pop shops, where they take there time and use age old recipes that are just perfect.
