The long anticipated Prop 8 decision has finally arrived. Will the California Supreme Court overturn the November decision to ban gay marriage or will they keep it in place? It’s been a long road for both supporters and activists of Prop 8, but it’s not over yet. There are several rallies and marches planned for today. No matter the decision, citizens will be out celebrating or protesting the Supreme Court’s Final Decision.
The court will also be deciding on whether to recognize the more than 18,000 same-sex marriages that took place in 2008. As controversial as the decision on whether to recognize same-sex marriage is, some against it find the Supreme Court’s proceedings undemocratic.
Here’s one comment I found interesting. “If the courts change the decision it will prove democracy is pointless. Why have a vote if the majority votes one way but because a small few complain the courts have to flip a decision.”
Whether you agree or not, the courts will make the final decision today and decide the fate of many same-sex couples in the state of California.
UPDATE: The California Supreme Court has decided to uphold the decision of banning same-sex marriage in the state of California.

Well that sucks. Glad the 18,000 that did get married get to keep their marriage though. Still, sad news.
