Weekend Movie Alert: Terminator Salvation

terminator-salvation-flash-posterIt’s time for another edition for Weekend Movie Alert, where we alert you … to … movies that … open on the weekend. I guess that didn’t need explanation. Ahem. This time around, we’re ditching the two-fer format once again to focus on one of the big ones: Terminator Salvation, starring Christian “Hissy Fit” Bale.

So, I know there are those of you out there who are pretty excited about this, and actually a bunch of you have already seen it, the movie having come out already in some areas. The general reaction so far seems to be “It’s a fun and dumb Summer flick … in the Spring.” People aren’t necessarily wild about it, but it doesn’t sound as though it’s a waste of time, either.

So, the trailers are mostly kind of confusing, but here are the standout elements: John Conner is all grown-up, running around and trying to fulfill his role as the savior of mankind. From select bits of dialogue, it seems that maybe something has changed, and this future isn’t the one his mother foresaw. At the same time, there’s what seems to be some kind of self-aware rogue Terminator similarly running around, trying to find John Conner, but it’s not out to kill him. Then gunfire, shouting, and explosions. Oh, and a gigantic walking Terminator shooting things up.

So, if any of that sounds good to you, then you pretty much already have your ticket and aren’t reading this. If you’re still unconvinced, check out the trailer below.
