Eric Naposki, a former NFL linebacker for the New England Patriots as well as the Colts, was arrested and then charged yesterday for the murder of wealthy Orange County businessman William Francis McLaughlin. Also charged in the case is Naposki’s former girlfriend Nanette Packard McNeal. The interesting fact of this story? The murder occurred in 1994. You know, a little while ago.
Rewind 15 years back, and multi-millionaire McLaughlin was still alive and dating the devious but then-attractive Nanette. However that relationship came at a cost (to state the obvious).
Reportedly Nanette was not only receiving large and frequent gifts from McLaughlin — including a beach front house in Newport Beach — but was also cashing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of checks from his bank account behind his back. And then there was the little fact that Nanette would receive a cool million dollar check if McLaughlin happened to die.
Naposki then enters the picture as a bouncer at a nearby club and also as a romantic interest for Nanette. Shortly after McLaughlin was found dead, shot six times, in the kitchen of his own home.
Authorities of course suspected the two from the start, but lacked the evidence to prove it. Today it seems that evidence has been found. While no word of what new evidence has been found, local DA spokeswoman Farrah Emami had this to say, “We feel at this point we have sufficient evidence to prove they were responsible for the death of Mr. McLaughlin.” She also remarked how the family of McLaughlin “deserves justice and closure for the murder their further.”
I agree.
