The Scottish Games & Festival

By Yosef Solomon on May 20th, 2009

The Annual Scottish Games & Festival took place in Livermore, CA over the past weekend and boy was it a sight to see. Overshadowing the Lakers and Celtics game 7 battles, Scots and kilt wearing imposers made there way to a local park and divulged in the many different activities that make up the Scottish Games.

From swords to owls, locals were treated to old drunk men in skimpy kilts headbutting the hell out of each other late into the night. There was also great food, good music and culturally rich exhibits showcasing Scottish pride.

Originating in North Carolina in the late 1950’s, the highland games (as they are officially known), take place in Scottish communities all around the world. They were meant to express cultural pride and retain the identity of there forefathers. Enjoy our exclusive gallery from the event.

And this is why you don't challenge a Scott in a fight. Nice pictures.
