Joe Namath was one of the last flamboyant players out there. Not in the “heyyy look at my shoessss” way, but the “hey, I just did three double shots of Jameson and slept with your wife” kind of way. And to be fair, he was pretty much drunk most of the time. A wonderful guy as I’m sure you can figure out. Here are his just a few of his many classic moments:

Intoxicated Interview

In this video, Joe is clearly intoxicated, and tries to make out with a sideline reporter on Monday Night Football. That’s how he rolls. No further description is needed; enjoy.

Brut Ad

Now, Joe lent his image to a huge array of products. Including a garish clothing line, a home popcorn making machine, and this ad for Brut cologne. If you’ve ever smelled Brut, it smells not unlike the inside of Larry Flynt’s limousine after 4th Of July weekend. And of course, Joe slurs his way through the delivery like a true champion. Enjoy!

Noxema Commercial with Farrah

Joe got laid more than you and I have had hot dinners. This is him and Farrah Fawcett shilling out for Noxema shaving cream. It’s painful to watch, because whoever his agent was at the time clearly must have been paying him entirely in whiskey. “I’m gonna get creamed!” never sounded so apt.

Dingo Boots

This is an ad for Joe Namath’s own clothing line, specifically for his “Dingo Boots”. Info on the clothing line is surprisingly hard to find, although pictures of his dress shirts involve a collar that goes all the way to one’s shoulders.

Pantyhose?

I saved the best for last, as in this video, Joe shills out for pantyhose. That’s right. Pantyhose. It’s incredibly awkward to watch, but you have to give props to the dude for being that confident (or just plain drunk) enough to do this ad.

Nice! We actually did a project with Joe Namath for an arthritis medication about five years ago. I got to spend some time with him, he's a really nice guy.

thanks. I got to hear Joe Namath on Saturday Night Oldies on WABC Radio. Mark Simone was asking him if he wishes he could still play football. Injuries, then he knew if was time to retire (from football that is, not commercials)

My father is the biggest Joe Namath fan. He would love to see this. Its a great collection of the man's accomplishments off of the field. He was such a legend. According to my father he was one of the best of all time. I guess this why he was invited to represent the top legends in sports...I only know this because of my father of course. I remember him mentioning he will be in the Bahamas this fall as a rep for the top sports icons and my father would love to go. Does anyone know what event I am talkin about?

I have Joe Namath dress shirt that my uncle gave to me when I was about 9. Needless to say it was just taking up space in his closet and I wanted it. I never wore it becuse it was way too big for a kid but I kept it. I recently found it in a box with some other clothes. Now that I'm 32 it fits perfect. One of the dopest shirts ever and I can't find any other of his vintage shirts anywhere!
