grsfcartsThem vidja games, don’t'cha love ‘em? Sure you do. They’ve been part of our culture for decades now, and they’re finally starting to break through into the mainstream. This mostly has to do with the simple fact that those of us who grew up playing video games are in positions of some influence. We’re writers, directors, artists … and you just know Barack Obama got in on some multiplayer Goldeneye back in The Day.

With this influence being seen more and more in our movies, tv shows, and books, it was only a matter of time before we started to see more niche expressions of mankind’s love for the video game … in particular, the classic games of our youth. To wit: these awesome oversized, sewn vinyl Activision game cartridges, created to be part of an artist’s gallery at the Giant Robot store in San Francisco.

The Artist Currently Known As Snaggs gives us these large — 17″ X 22″ — masterpieces, featuring renditions of Dragster, Tennis, Skiing, and Laser Blast, faithfully reproduced in all their vibrantly-hued glory. The Flickr page also shows a black vinyl pillow featuring a scene from Tempest, but it’s not known whether that piece was part of the show or not.

Those of you who dig this kinda thing can find a metric ton of it on etsy.com, and they’re all for sale. You can even request a particular piece to be made for you! Myself, i won’t be satisfied until I can drive around in an 8-bit car, blocky wheels and all. Sure, I won’t get very far, but think of the style.
