If you’re wondering, the ‘B’ stands for “bhabhi”, which means “sister-in-law”. Apparently, India’s quite the conservative country when it comes to sexual matters. So much so, in fact, that pornography is banned outright. What better place, then, to introduce the world’s first homegrown Indian porn star, Savita Bhabhi, the heroine of her own x-rated comic, published by Indian Porn Empire.
According to custom, one’s bhabhi is someone in whom one can confide and speak freely with. So it’s considered pretty controversial to base a series of erotic comics around the idea of being with your brother’s wife. Therein lies the attraction: not so much for any actual storyline or graphics — both of which are fairly crude — but in the very idea of breaking a common taboo.
While the comic’s creators might see themselves as pioneers of social change, they’ve been taking a lot of flack from the establishment. Everyone involved has their own nickname, of course, and without doing the research, it’s a given that the servers for this enterprise are not located on Indian soil.
I’m curious to know what percentage of Savita’s audience is female, and whether or not it will lead other similar ventures to start a groundswell movement, heralding a new era of pornography in India. It seems odd to even consider this a story, given that this is the same country that gave the world the Kama Sutra, but who can say what repressed desires lurk in the hearts of men? Savita can!

Bhabhi does translate to "Sister-in-Law", but colloquially "Bhabhi" is used for any recently married woman. (Sort of like how you call an elder lady "Auntie" even though she's not your aunt.)
