Intelligym: Enhance Your Basketball Game

Intelligym is the first basketball training program that promises to improve your skills through computer simulation. Backed by legendary coaches Hubie Brown and current Kentucky coach John Calipari, Intelligym is gaining popularity in basketball gyms everywhere. Even the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Indiana features this new technology as an exhibit for visitors.

It seems like a cool new system, but I don’t really buy into the fact that it can enhance a players “basketball intelligence.” It might be able to simulate real game situations and create a wealth of different scenarios, but I don’t think it could replicate that game time energy.

When your team’s down one and the game’s on the line, being an expert in the Intelligym software will hardly factor into game time decisions. But who knows, I could be wrong. After playing NBA 2K2 all summer long in 10th grade, I did make the JV high school basketball team.
