At the age of 24 Lebron James will be named the 2008-2009 NBA MVP. King James has and is still having his best season of his career. Averaging 28.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game, James becomes the 1st player in Cavaliers history to win this award. James will also be the 2nd youngest player in NBA history to win the MVP award behind Wes Unseld.

James more than deserves MVP honors for his play this season. Not only did he put up immaculate stats, but more importantly he led his team to a 66-win season. If you look at the Cavs team as a hole, you can see that James is the heart, nucleus, captain and whatever other metaphor you’d like to define his greatness. The best part of his game isn’t his jump shot or high flying dunks, but his ability to make those around him better.

Since the beginning of the season I’ve been saying Lebron will have his true test in the NBA Finals when he goes against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. It might be too early to tell if both teams will advance to the finals, but I’d definitely put my money on it.

Also, I think that since Lebron won MVP honors this year, Kobe will have a chip on his shoulder and ultimately go at and prove he’s the best player on the planet. At the end of the day, I got my money on Kobe and the Lakers.
