According to sources close to Apple, the Cupertino, CA based company will be releasing the iPhone Lite, Verizon Wireless’ version of the iPhone. The deal has yet to be confirmed and some are brushing it off as a rumor, but Business Week magazine reports that this device may be released as soon as this summer.
The magazine also reported that Apple will be releasing a small digital tablet, capable of displaying HD movies, photos and a music function. Rumors have yet to be proven and no direct sources from Apple have commented.
Apparently Apple and Verizon have been in talks for a year about releasing an iPhone-esque device that works with the nations largest wireless provider. However, Apple is still under exclusivity agreements with AT&T, thus making it difficult for them to branch out.
Apple was also in the news again this morning after USA Today reported a potential phone deal in 2010. Independent of the iPhone Lite, USA Today reports Apple and Verizon are close to closing a deal on the potential Apple Verizon CDMA phone.
Insiders are skeptical after Apple COO Tim Cook dismissed a possible CDMA iPhone: “From a technology point of view, Verizon is on CDMA, and we chose from the beginning of the iPhone to focus on one phone for the whole world” Cook said.

If Verizon gets the next iPhone I will cry. I have AT&T now and love my iPhone. I don't want to switch providers and don't think my parents want to either. I will die if it goes to Verizon.

if verizon gets the iPhone, that doesn't mean that you will have to switch providers. They will have buisness from AT&T and Verizon. They wouldn't risk loosing all the customers.

I work for At&t but my provider is Verizon, I love the Iphone but I refuse to change providers I love Verizon

I just stooped by the Verizon store and spoke with a salesman...he mentioned that the iPhone lite will be coming to Verizon network in April 2010. I'm not sure if they are locking down the phone at all...but we will see.

If/when verizon gets the iphone I will die of happiness. I have been waiting for waht feels like forever. All these imposter phones suck, I want the real deal. The iphone and Americas best wireless provider should team up.
