As reported here, Matthew Perry recently made a guest appearance on The View, where he was subjected to all manner of questioning by the nonstop verbal shenanigans of the hosts. Since when did they start surrounding their guests on either side of a couch? Seems kind of personal space-invadey to me. Anyway, Perry was there ostensibly to promote his latest movie “17 Again”, where he plays the older version of himself who gets de-aged into Zac Efron while still retaining his adult mind and sensibilities. Hilarity ensues.
However, as the post’s video shows, at some point the conversation turns to video games. Perry mentions that he’s been playing Fallout 3. In fact, he’s apparently been playing so much Fallout 3 that his hands took some damage, requiring a trip to the doctor and some shots of an undetermined solution to correct. This, my friends, is the sign of a True Gamer.
Now, it may be more common these days to hear of celebrities playing — or, rather, admitting to playing — video games than in previous days, but it’s less common to hear them name drop specific titles. And I must say, Fallout 3 is exactly the sort of game I’d have thought Matthew Perry would play: story-driven, complex, featuring a rich conversation system. I don’t know why, and not to mis-type the guy, but he never seemed to me to be the FPS type, or into fighting games, necessarily. I’m just happy to know he’s part of our proud fraternity of gamers.
Matthew Perry, I salute you. Long may you play.
