Damn, I didn’t even know that there WAS a Robin Hood remake movie coming, and here we have a shot of Russell Crowe in the leathers! Crowe is teaming up with director Ridley Scott to make the story of an English outlaw fighting for justice and equality during the reign of John of England, who took the throne in the absence of Richard the Lionheart, who was away fighting the Third Crusade.
Whether or not the partnership will be able to recapture the numbers they generated with their previous effort “Gladiator” remains to be seen, but they could hardly do worse than to help erase the memory of the lamentable “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves”.
Now, we all know, or think we know the basic story behind Robin Hood: guy runs around the forest with his band of Merry Men, causing havoc with guerilla tactics against the king’s men, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, being particularly merry with Maid Marian, etc. But the original story has been traced back to the late 13th century, where it exists in a nascent form as a number of allusions in various poetic works. It seems to have been more of a title than a proper name, referring to any outlaw figure. So, it’s really open to interpretation. I’m hoping this means that the expected names will be there in force — Friar Tuck, Little John, Will Scarlet, etc. — but the actual plot can be as medievally awesome as possible. We’ll keep an eye on this one … a bull’s eye. Ha! See what I did there?
Yeah, I need sleep.

hmm, this Robin Hood sounds suspiciously like a terrorist if you ask me. or at the very least a communist. stealing from the rich to give to the poor? ha.
