You heard it right, the legendary announcer John Madden officially called it quits today after 30 years as an NFL analyst. Not to mention he’s the voice and name of one of the best video game series ever. The NFL won’t be the same without Madden, but at 73 years-old he’s already given his life to the sport.
Ironic that he retired the same year as his favorite quarterback Brett Farve did. I don’t think there’s any correlation seeing that this is Brett Favres’s 2nd retirement. Madden noted that his family was the main reason for his retirement. He wants to be around for his kids and grand kids more. He will also be celebrating his 50th anniversary this year with his wife Virgina.
We here at Manolith salute Mr. John Madden and thank him for his major contributions to the sport of football. No one will ever be able to call the game quit like his greatness….Oh yeah, can’t wait for Madden 2010!
