Robyn, Mel Gibson’s wife, has just filed for divorce having signed the papers a day before Good Friday, ouch! The couple were married for 28 years, but were separated for the last two and half according to Robyn. She cites on the papers “irreconcilable differences” for the grounds of divorce.
Supposedly there is no prenuptial agreement between the couple. Gibson is worth a reported 900 million and under California law, community property is divided 50/50 so that includes earnings as well.
The couple grew increasingly apart over the last few years where Mel Gibson’s arrest in 2006 for drunk driving probably pushed Robyn over the edge. There have also been rumors that Mel has been involved with another woman, but no one is confirming that, nor is Robyn using that the reason for divorce.
The couple has seven children where Tom, who is 10, is the only minor. Robyn is seeking joint physical and legal custody over Tom.
What will be interesting is the date in which Robyn says the couple separated. That will be crucial in determining the division of assets.
