After a highly succesful first series, HBO has given the green light to another season of Eastbound & Down. The show in its 6 week trial run gained a huge amount of critical and cult attention due to its southern charm and crass yet brilliantly played characters, namely Danny McBride’s Kenny Powers – the former pro baseball player turned high school P.E coach.
In a statement from HBO head honch Michael Lombardo: “Eastbound & Down’s” raucous comedy sparked a loyal and enthusiastic following that grew throughout the season, and we’re happy to bring the show back for more innings. It will be fun to see what happens to Kenny in season two.”
The series is expected to return in 2010, with production slated later this year.
