I’ve grown up with and worked with a bunch of dudes.  I understand how you guys eat and what I’ve realized that that convenience has a TON to do with it.  This is the reason why fast food restaurants and packaged foods are so popular amongst all the men I’ve known in my life.   And just because the Economy has seen better days doesn’t mean that you need to live on instant noodles.  Here are some cheap ways to eat healthy.

Eat Local Produce- Eating fresh fruits and vegetables will not only do wonders for you waistline, but it will give you vitamins, antioxidants and minerals which will make your skin and hair look better.  (You guys say that this stuff doesn’t matter, but secretly I know you care)  Local produce also tends to be cheaper, so instead of eating a candy bar, buy an organic apple for less than a buck.

Eat Sardines or Wild Salmon-  No, you don’t have to get these fish fresh. You can just get them canned in spring water, and they have all the omega 3 fatty acids and protein that you need for a tasty meal.   And it doesn’t hurt your wallet.

Drink Water- Water does wonders for your skin and it keeps you full so you don’t start reaching for those chips, candy, or other snacks.  And it’s free. (Just get a Brita)

Go Veg- Okay, so I’m not saying that you should turn vegan or something.  You might have a girlfriend that has been prodding you to try tofu or to try veggie burgers instead of your delicious double cheeseburger.  Why not take her advice? Tofu or veggie burgers are usually cheaper than buying ground beef, and if you shop at a place like Trader Joes, there are always good deals to be had.  Plus, your girl will love the fact that you’re taking her advice.

Eat Whole Grains- Try brown rice instead of white.  Or Whole wheat pasta instead of regular pasta.  For only a few cents more, you can have added nutrients and benefits of whole grains which have more fiber, magnesium, and selenium.

Grilled or Baked, not Fried- Baked chips, Baked Chicken, Grilled Veggies.  Grilled or Baked anything is always better than fried because you really don’t need the extra oil.  The George Foreman Grill never looked so good.

You’ve probably read these tips before, but it’s good to get a quick reminder. Good eating, boys!

hey Eric, yeah, ramen’s okay once in a while. You gotta live, right? And hot sauce is good on everything.

Great advice.. the reason why dudes don’t eat healthy is that they see it as inconvenient. By retraining the mind that it’s not inconvenient, actually it’s easy and fun, anyone can eat healthy!
