Rapper MIMS is a relative newcomer to the rhyming game, and is best known for his club anthem, “This is Why I’m Hot,” which was ubiquitous when it first came out in 2006. Born Shawn Mims, he grew up in Washington Heights in New York, and focused on rapping at an early age, despite having lost his parents by age 13, and decided to put his entire focus on rapping.
Soon after, MIMS worked with the Miami Production team, Blackout movement, and once he released, “This is Why I’m Hot,” the record labels came calling. His full-length album, “Music is My Savior,” was released by EMI/Capitol and he is gearing up for his 2009 release of his new album, “Guilt.”
First up is this hot single, “Move If You Wanna,” which has a thunderous beat, a catchy melody and lyrics that have you repeating, “Move If You Wanna,” even if you get annoyed. Here are a few more notable lyrics:
I don’t understand how I can have so many haters
Knowing I’m Their father like my name is Darth Vader
I can get you hemmed up while I’m being tailored
Then I can slide off to the side like a fader
If all of his other tracks sound this hot, my guess is that Mims’s album will be just as hot as his last one. I already can’t get this freaking song out of my head.
