The Travel Channel’s Man v. Food is the epitome of over-indulgence.  The show’s host, Adam Richman, travels from city to city eating ungodly amounts of food. And it’s usually done under a time limit.

In each episode Richman travels to a different city and visits several local eateries showcasing the local cuisine. Then, at the end of each episode there is a challenge, or eating contest.

For example, there was the eleven pound pizza challenge in Atlanta, Georgia (he lost) and the 4 1/2 pound,  72-ounce,  steak challenge in Amarillo, Texas (he won).

On one of the episodes I saw, Richman ate a hamburger that would probably send most people into cardiac arrest. The burger was made out of two grilled cheese sandwiches (one on top and one on the bottom, used as the bun) several meat patties, about seven pieces of  bacon and a stack of cheese. I’m not sure how his body can handle all the shit he eats. I swear I keep watching this show just waiting for him to drop dead.

The show is similar in a lot of ways to the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, but instead of having an annoying bro like Guy Fieri as a host, you get Richman, an average guy who really likes food and likes eating a lot of it.

Man v. Food airs on the Travel Channel Wednesday nights.
