> ...there are over 200 styles check their website...once you actually give in an try a pair for yourself, you inevitably will become addicted to them!

You're right, much as I'm loathe to admit it, LOL. I'm not addicted, but I hated the way 'classic' Crocs look, and am still not fond of that look, but I tried some Havanas (3" open-toe slingback wedge) last year and they're my favorite casual 'girl shoe' when I want to wear something other than sneakers with jeans and t-shirt.

I'm about to buy another similar pair and some flats for around the house and deck, none of which look like the Crocs most of you are thinking of. I agree, they don't seem quite appropriate for most work environments (especially for hospitals unless they're fully enclosed) but out and about, gardening, or sloshing through a sudden summer downpour? Why not? What do you care? (I suspect he's ruined a good pair of suede ankle boots in his day, and is a bit bitter.)

BTW, want to talk about knock offs? I suppose most of you are too young to know about the 'jellies' that dominated the '80s and can still be found sold in drugstores. Those are horrid and don't breathe (part of the reason I took years to try Crocs, which are totally different as it turns out), but still, the basic model of the one-piece man-made molded shoe is about as innovative as the Snuggie (look up Slankets, which predate Snuggies a couple of years, and Snug Sacks, which date back to the '70s). A company can, through quality and variety, withstand knockoffs and competition, and even grow stronger because of them. Crocs were created in 2002 after one of the founders had seen Canadian shoes called Foam Creations and set out to make their own version before those moved to the US market; in 2004 Crocs bought Foam Creations.

The only other Croc-like thing I've ever owned is one pair of $5 molded sandals which are the same type of material as Crocs that I got at a hardware store to wear while painting my house and auto parts. Beats getting even an old pair of sneakers messy, and it wipes right off. That was in 2000 and they are not Foam Creations or any kind of 'knock off' of Crocs, since they're years older than Crocs.

Ned Schneebly.. thats what I will refer to you as.. Hahaha! I work for Crocs.. and there is NO WAY they are going out of business. Perhaps if you checked the Quarterly Earnings posted for Q4 of 2009 and Q1 of 2010 you would see that Crocs is a completely DEBT FREE comapny only posting large profits over their previous year during these tough economic times... the funny thing about a pair of Crocs shoes (BTW there are over 200 styles check their website) is that once you actually give in an try a pair for yourself, you inevitably will become addicted to them! I praise and thank the loyal Crocs customers, they contiue to purchase crazy amounts of shoes from us. As well as our global markets in the UK, Asia, and Europe, the sales overseas are up as well. I am certain Crocs will be around for quite a long time... look for new stores near you because Crocs is opening at least 50 new stores in the US by the end 0f 2010, as well as multiple global locations. PS NED SHNEEBBLY you may be the bane of my existence. LOL

just click on his name, and you can see his pic; that's all you need to know. Of course he hates crocs - he's a caricature of hipster douchebag, pen stuffed in his ironic t-shirt and all. He's probably got a figurine of Cornelius from Planet of the Apes next to the docked iPod on his desk, cause he's so unbelievably fucking cool.

I love how the author of the column writes a vitriolic overheated criticism of crocs (the kind that displays some type of seething inadequacy just below the surface), but then lambasts the comment community for being rude. If you are allowed to shove your opinions down our throats with such a violent temperament, your inability to expect behavior in kind is pretty naive.

I say this as somebody who lived in Colorado and never like crocs: If you thought your news story as soap box whine-fest was somehow witty, you've grossly overestimated both the quality and quantity of humor, and underestimated how much this bitchy and insecure piece reveals about you.

Hey There are many styles crocs make for every season. There are actually attractive styles out there, I have very unique feed that can only wear them. Their cost is very very reasonable and they are a very comfortable shoe. Department stores are outrageous and uncomfortable for my needs including Walmart and Target. Crocs needs to use Paypal with they want thier business to exist instead of just credit cards, As far as using the comment "praise the Lord" in the context you are using it, I do not appreciate. The way you used it causes me to speculate if he is your Lord. Please do not use the Lord in vain, It is very offensive to me and other true believers in Jesus Christ. Thank You

I'm so glad I just bought 9 pairs of these wonderful shoes..all different styles and only $5 at a warehouse sale here in longmont colorado. They are the best shoes ever, everyone can wear them except the moron who wrote this story, he would look like a total nerd in crocs with his other "fashionable" clothes! Spend your big $$ on what you call fashion while the rest of us save on crocs, who cares about fashion. I would rather be comfy and keep crocs alive. Those cheap knock-offs dont hold a candle to the real thing!

wow! so many fans of ugly shoes out there! no wonder crocs got so huge... if anything, they were respresentative of the era that they came about in. dubya wears them, so maybe that will give you an idea. ugly shoes for mediocre people. give me style over looking like an inmate or a psychiatric patient any day. and do not get me going about flip flops in public! shoes like these need not go beyond your house or garden. simple as that.

a, thankfully, short-lived ugly trend. sadly, in few years they'll be "retro" and future hipsters will wear them. ugh.

Wow your posting really ticked me off!! I mean honestly I have to say that you love being an asshole. Ya know I know that they are ugly, but here is the thing. I have a prosthetic on my left foot and have never been able to find a pair of tennis shoes etc that I could be comfortable in. Thank god I ran across crocs brand and have been wearing them for the past 4 years. My back doesn't hurt as bad, as well as my feet. I have fibromyalgia, chronic myofacial pain. Which pretty much means I hurt all the time.
Crocs however ugly they are, are the most comfortable pair of shoes that I own. You are terrible for writing this and I guarantee once we put a pair on your damn feet and you wore them for a friggin week you wouldn't be able live without them.

More or less if you think that we need to wear something else that makes us comfortable, easy to wash off etc, then why don't you take your genius mind and come out with a product that we will all buy? Something that eases our foot pain, and when we are in such bad pain with our bodies that we can simply slide into. Odds are I bet you can't, or that you yourself don't have any foot, back, body problems. Well until you do you need to keep your thoughts to yourself.

Again, I really hope that crocs don't go out of business. I don't know what I am going to do because I honestly have not found any other shoe that gives me the comfort the way that they do.

These are the only shoes I can wear as I have severe nerve damage in my feet due to diabetes. I do not care how they look as long as I am able to walk in shoes without being in severe pain. Maybe you should ask yourself what you would do to be pain free. I feel sorry for all of you that put someone down for the shoes they wear.

Please find a way NOT to go out of business, Crocs is the only shoes I wear. Honestly!!! I don't know what I'll do if you go out of business.
Just as usual, something everyone should wear goes out of business. I am praying for you not to have to go out of business.
Is there something I can do..............? Please let me know....
All my best Judy Slater

You all are morons . . .who gives a rats ass what kind of shoe you wear. If I want to spend $30 for a pair of shoes that make me look like an idiot. . .WHO CARES!!! I look like the idiot, not you. So go wear your Sperrys and Rockports, and Designer crap (don't forget to pay your monthly online porn bill, losers) and I'll be happy in my crocs. Have a good day.

I hope Crocs aren't dead because I adore them. If I step in dog poop, I simply rinse them off and I do that often because I operate a petsitting company. If you get them dirty, I simply wash them off. If they are wet, they dry within minutes or simply wipe them off and you are good to go. You can't do that with ordinary shoes! I walk 8 hours a day and I have never had such comfortable footwear. Silly looking? Maybe, but they are functional and practical! Long Live Crocs! If I had enough money, I would buy the company!

Ok, I am an avid backpacker and when you finished hiking a 14 mile day and covered two peaks you tell me what to wear: an enclosed sneaker where one can develop foot fungus or an open show that can let your feet breath. Sandals don’t work in the back country sense they don’t provide any protection for your toes. Yes they might be ugly but they have a very practical use, an extremely light weight design makes and some protection. A backpacker’s dream if they are a minimalist. SO PACK THE HELL OFF!

I thought the article was funny! I reserve the right to judge people at my discrection, mostly because I find it hilarious and helpful in weeding out those I have nothing in common with. I have no opposition whatsoever to anyone who wants to wear the ugliest shoe on the planet- knock yourself out! In exchange, I will make note of the fact that any man in Crocs instantly loses his masculinity and becomes indistinguishable from an infant. Are ya' gonna' make a move on a sexy lady with yer' big, rubber feet glaring at her? My mother loves them, and she looks hideous in them. My favorite: Couples in Crocs! It says to me, "Hey, we're together now and have stepped off the fashion train forever! No one wants us and we don't care!" Second favorite: Women in cute skirts with Flintstone feet thanks to Crocs- instant cankles! I'm happy they help people feel better- it means I can endlessly amuse myself at their expense. Live long and prosper, Crocs!

I bought a pair of Crocs a few months ago and I have to say that I just loved them! Very comfortable, very durable, and made to last. I can't really say that about a pair of $30 dollar shoes with laces.

Sorry that they are going out of business. But I have mine !!!!!
