The self-proclaimed “King of the South” TI was sentenced to a year and a day this morning in an Atlanta Courtroom for federal weapons charges. After doing 1,000 hours of community service this past year and documenting some special cases on MTV, TI has a couple more weeks until he has to turn himself in and proceed with his sentence.
The Grammy-Award winning rapper was arrested in October of 2007 after Federal and ATF Agents raided a Walgreens parking lot where Clifford “TI” Harris and others were caught purchasing firearms. After pleading guilty to all charges, the judge placed TI on house arrest for a few months in his Atlanta estate.
During that time, TI wrote and produced one of his greatest albums to date. The Platinum selling “Paper Trail” earned TI a few Grammy’s nominations and kept him on the Billboard charts for most of 2008. His MTV reality show “Road to Redemption” has been a great success and one of the most positive outcomes of his career. Rumors speculate that TI will more than likely be released before the actual year is up and not have to serve out the entire sentence.
