Foxy Knoxy – “The Devil With an Angel’s Face”

For the past few months the Italian press have had a field day with 21-year-old American Amanda Knox, or as they like to call her: Foxy Knoxy – “The Devil with an Angel’s face.” Suspected in a violent murder case, Knox has become a woman of intrigue, loved and hated by those following the case. And what a case it is. Murder, violence, sex, and horror. And lots of it.

The story starts with the murder of Knox’s roommate Meredith Kercher, an English exchange student. Meredith was found dead on November, 2007 at her Italian flat having been stabbed and sexually assaulted. Suspected in the case are Amanda and her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito. According to reports from Italian Prosecutor Giuliano Mignini, Kercher “was killed because she refused to participate in a drug-fueled sex game played by Knox, Sollecito, and a third man, Ivory Coast native Rudy Hermann Guede. In court papers, prosecutors stated that Sollecito held Kercher by her wrists while Knox poked at her with a knife and Guede sexually assaulted her.”

Both Knox and Sollecito have pleaded not guilty. They claim to have been elsewhere that night, but their alibis have so far been refuted in court. Still, it’s proven to be a dramatic event. The Italian Media has been illegally releasing court documents, photographs, and even videos, causing headline after headline on the case. And in a strange twist, a recent online poll from an Italian TV station, Knox was voted “person of the year.” The ultimate femme fatale.
