Okay guys, pay attention. This is a back-to-school post. Remember Pi? The helpful geometrical constant denoted by π. There were so many constants that I had to try and memorize in school, like Planck’s, Napier’s, and Euler’s. None stuck in my mind. Pi still does. So here are some cool Pi facts that you can read and share with your kids; am sure they’ll love you for it and you’ll notice a new adoration for you in your wife’s eyes.

  • No-one and no machine has been able to find out the exact value of Pi; people have been trying to pin an exact value to Pi for thousands of years.
  • Even the Bible could not resist the charms of Pi and makes a reference to it in a verse from I Kings 7,23: And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it about.
  • From time to time, Pi fanatics sprout in different places. Like Lu Chao of China who found the time and inclination to memorize the value of Pi to 67,890 digits.
  • March 14 is celebrated as Pi day.
