The Watchmen epic is finally here. Opening in theaters across America late tonight, the highly anticipated Watchmen movie is predicted to be the box office winner this weekend. Directed by Zack Snyder, the man behind 2006’s blockbuster “300,” looks to add to his growing catalog with this classic comic book series.
Is it just me or does it seem like Hollywood blockbusters are the only money makers in this industry right now. You don’t see very many Slumdog Millionaires or at least hollywood blockbusters with low budget’s anymore. I guess one could argue any Judd Apatow movie, but that’s just one man. I think comic book movies are here to stay. For the simple fact that graphics and inginuity behind these films are nothing short of spectacular. Not to mention you can experience them in IMAX!
Here are a few of Watchmen reviews to compare:
Owen Gleiberman of Entertainment Weekly: “Watchmen isn’t boring, but as a fragmented sci-fi doomsday noir, it remains as detached from the viewer as it is from the zeitgeist.”
Christy Lemire of The Associated Press: “Yes, I’ve read Watchmen… It moved me, too. And still — or, rather, because of that — I found director Snyder’s adaptation hugely disappointing, faithful as it is to the 1986 graphic novel.”
Matt Selman of Time Magazine: “Sitting in that screening room and watching the visual world of the Watchmen movie unfold was one of the most powerful experiences I’ve ever had. Not film experiences. Just EXPERIENCES.”

i just got back from watching Watchmen; in retrospect, the movie leaves me feeling a bit haunted by it's style and storyline, though in a good way
