Corey Smith of the Detroit Lions and Marquis Cooper of the Oakland Raiders are among a group of four boaters feared drowned yesterday off of Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Their boat left Saturday morning and did not return as expected on Saturday evening. A full scale search was issued by the Florida Coast Guard on Sunday afternoon. They are still searching at the time I write this on Monday morning. The other two members of the fishing trip are listed as Will Bleakley and Nick Schuyler – both former players for the University of South Florida football team. Police are searching a roughly 750 square mile area via helicopter and boat.

Corey Smith dominated on the Lions defensive team despite their winless season. Marquis Cooper has played for various teams including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

We’ll keep you posted on the details as soon as we get them.
