Ken Griffey Jr. Returns to the Seattle Mariners

Seattle Mariner fans got exactly what they wished for today, after future Hall-of-Famer Ken Griffey Jr. decided to return to his original home. Griffey informed Atlanta Braves management earlier today that he would not be signing with their franchise. This left many sportswriters and fans alike anticipating Griffey returning to Seattle, the city where he started his career.

This move may be one of the biggest in Seattle sports history, especially after a rough 2008 year which saw the Seattle SuperSonics leave town en-route to Oklahoma. Football fans also suffered through an injury plagued season for the Seahawks, while the Mariners experienced record losing season.

Although Ken Griffey Jr. is way past his prime, the City of Seattle looks at this homecoming as the best thing thats happened since the Seahawks made it to the Super Bowl in 2006. Who knows, Griffey may just be that spark, to bring Seattle sports back to life.
