His show “Important Things With Demetri Martin” is debuting on on Comedy Central tonight at 9:30, but this isn’t the only thing we’ll be seeing Demetri in any time soon. Not by a long shot. The Beatles-coiffed comedian is on the cover of New York Magazine this week. But even THAT isn’t the big news.

According to representatives from Focus Features, Demetri just got cast as the star of the next Ang Lee film ‘Taking Woodstock’, about the founder of – you guessed it – the Woodstock festival.

Add that to his cult tv show in the making ‘Important Things’ – an almost academic disection of comedy – and you’ve got one of the biggest names in stand up comedy right now. The 35 year old comic started out as a stand up before becoming a writer for Conan O’Brien in 2003. From there, he went on to The Daily Show With John Stewart in 2005 and has since gone on to sell two different movies to two different movie studios, an upcoming book of drawings, and also an upcoming movie starring him and Anna Faris. Not too bad.
