The Super Bowl Halftime Show is arguably one of the most electrifying aspects of Super Bowl Sunday. It’s the only time a national sporting event can be turned into an elaborate concert set featuring an iconic musical figure. This year’s headliner happens to be the legendary Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band.
Toted as the highest profile gig in the music industry, Springsteen was definitely a safe choice for the NFL, after 2004’s infamous wardrobe malfunction featuring Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake.
Coming off a recent world tour in August, Springsteen and The E Street Band are ready to rock out Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium. Last year’s halftime performance by Tom Petty drew an astounding 148 million viewers worldwide. Even more are expected this year with reports of broadcasts in 230 different countries.
Bridgestone Tires will be hosting this year’s event, which appears February 1st, 2009 on NBC during halftime of Super Bowl XLIII.
