Brazilian model Mariana Bridi da Costa has suffered a tragic misdiagnosis and was forced to have her hands and feet amputated.
The 20-year-old model was a finalist in the Miss World competition and placed sixth in the Miss Bikini International competition last year. According to reports, she was originally misdiagnosed with having kidney stones back in December. Without anyone knowing, a deadly infection spread through her body. This week she was diagnosed with a blood disease called Septicaemia. Septicaemia is a potentially fatal urinary disease that cuts circulation off to the limbs and damages organs. Doctors have also removed both of her kidneys and part of her stomach.
UPDATE: According to CNN, Mariana died early Saturday. A sad end to this tragic story.
