Inauguration Watch Party

Washington is all geared up for the big party and Americans are making preparations to join in. The idea of an inauguration watch party is a nice one, it enables a community to come together and cheer for Obama, watch the Obama inauguration and it lets an honest entrepreneur make some good money.

Of course, many venues hosting an inauguration watch party are doing it as community service.

Here’s a list of some local inauguration events -
1.Big-Screen Inauguration Screening — A jumbo screen for you to watch the swearing in of Barack Obama as the United State’s 44th President. A picnic atmosphere will pervade this public service by Comcast Cable, the City of Charleston, and additional support from several private benefactors. Tue., Jan. 20, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Free. Marion Square, Calhoun and King.

2.Democrat Inauguration Lunch — Democrats of Buffalo South can congregate at Buffalo South, 1409 Folly Road. (843) 406-0888 on January 20th 11 a.m. to watch the inauguration and enjoy a $6.50 buffet. More details at www.buffalosouth.com.

3.Inauguration Celebration Affair — More than just an inauguration watch party; this one is a gala affair with guest speakers, entertainment, dancing, and more. Tue., Jan. 20, 5 p.m. Alfred Williams Center, 4401 Durant Ave. (843) 478-4462.

4.Yes We Did — A party that starts after the inauguration is over. This one commences at 6 p.m and lasts till 2 a.m. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and raffles groove to a DJ’s music.  $15, $17.50/door. Fusions Restaurant and Grill, 7550 Dorchester Road. (843) 225-4687.
