Tardis

The Tardis is one of the few comic book, fantasy props that really tickles me. I used to be a Dr. Who fan and have read a lot of his adventures. The Tardis [Time And Relative Dimensions In Space] is one amazing spacecraft that on the outside looks like a 1950s London police box but on the inside is as spacious as you can imagine. The Tardis is a product of Time Lord technology and the entire concept has something very British about it. I mean its like Enid Blyton for grown ups and I loved it.

Why is the Tardis in the shape of a London police box – it’s because it took the shape of a London police box once and then its “chameleon circuit” broke leaving it stuck in that form.

The Tardis is a throwback to a time when Sci-fi stuff on the telly was fun and the production houses came up with ideas that not only had to pique the curiosity of the viewers but also keep the budget in mind. So the Tardis did not fly like a spaceship as the special effects would have added to the costs, instead it just disappeared, faded away to some peculiar music.
