“Could Have Been You” is a track produced by Dr. Dre featuring 50 Cent and R. Kelly. It’s believed the song was recorded for Dre’s upcoming album, ”Detox”. According to Dre’s management, the version that was leaked is an unmastered and unmixed take missing a verse from Dre’s latest protege, rapper Bishop Lamont, that will be included on the final mix.
R. Kelly clearly steals the show with his verse, singing “The reason why you didn’t get picked, ’cause you got your nose up your ass smelling your shit. But tonight you met your match, ’cause I be smelling my shit too. Now how you like that?” Smelling shit? Really? Keep in mind, R. Kelly was acquitted in June of child pornography charges stemming from a video tape of him peeing on an alleged underage girl.
The leak of “Could Have Been You” comes just a week after the leak of the Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and Eminem track called “Crack a Bottle.” It is unclear if “Crack a Bottle” will be included on Eminem’s upcoming album, ”Relapse”, or if it will be on ”Detox”. The release dates of both albums have been pushed back several times already.
”Detox” is Dr. Dre’s third and supposed final solo album. The album has been in production since since 2004. Dre’s last album, ”2000” was released in 1999.
