Another low for lame duck prez George Bush – having a pair of shoes flung at him when addressing a press conference in Baghdad, Iraq. I shall only report the incident without getting into Bush-bashing that maybe he deserves. The simple reason for this is that there has not been another terrorist attack on U.S soil after 9/11; Bush went after them and maybe America owes him some gratitude for it.

Anyway, lets move on from the prosaic and boring to the funny and entertaining. The angry shoe thrower has been identified as T.V correspondent Muntadar al-Zeidi who aimed well for the American Head’s noggin but Big Chief showed remarkable agility in ducking out of the way of the Size 10 missile. Another shoe followed but this one was slightly off target. The guy yelled “this is a goodbye kiss from the Iraqi people, dog,” as he hurled the first shoe. When he threw the second one he said “This is for the widows and orphans and all those killed in Iraq.” He was then wrestled to the floor by the security people and taken away. A trail of blood was noticed on the carpet but there is no confirmation yet if it belonged to the erstwhile assailant.

Bush made light of the incident comparing it to similar things in the US that can happen to a politician facing dissent. He said “It doesn’t bother me. So what if he threw a shoe at me. All I can report is it is a size 10.”

Catch Bush dodging the two Nike missiles.
