What’s common to pizzas, potatoes, and USB flash drives. You can make pizzas in endless variations, add potatoes to almost any dish, and get creative in any number of ways with USB flash drives. To this end, Mimoco has been selling what it calls Mimobots – “…designer USB flash drives are the world’s first character-based USB flash drive collection”.

It’s a nice idea that gives an option to add stuff around us which can enliven our lives, make it richer, give us something to talk about with the guy in the workstation next to ours, and of course serve as a data storage device when required. Mimobots (probably inspired by those Russian dolls that lie one inside the other) are designed by guys with a pulse on what would appeal most to geeks and tech-savvy guys. So, we have Star Wars characters, pirates, Halo, Tokidoki, and Japan’s Domo as well. Quite a few of these pieces, like the 8 GB RayD8 drives are limited edition items.

Mimobots can make cool stocking fillers for your young nerdy relatives. The only thing is that these designer flash drives are quite on the expensive side with a 2 GB drive likely to cost you twice as much as a standard 4 GB one.
