Mutoid Waste Company Produces Robo-Dog

By Sean Percival on December 11th, 2008

Talk about Transformers!  The Mutoid Waste Company in England has produced a “robo-dog” from completely recycled parts.  Don’t worry, it doesn’t have a mind of it’s own (yet) and it’s too slow to really get away from you.  That being said, this is one heck of a machine.  It’s hard to believe your eyes looking at this picture, I know.  Keep reading after the jump to find out some of the components of this modern mutt and to see a video of the beast in action.  Oh, did I mention it “breathes” fire?

The owner of the Mutoid Waste Company, Lyle Roll gave a hands-on demonstration of his latest creation, affectionately dubbed “Larry” while photographers snapped photos of the mutation.  So what exactly did Roll transform to make this machine?

He says he used totally recycled parts.  A Citroen 2CV engine sits at the heart of the beast, as well as being used for his head.  Cut up a few motorcycle frames and you’ve got the skeleton for the dog.  Add a few Fiat parts, coffee filters (yes, you read that right) and an airplane radar gizmo of some sort and you’re almost there.  A trip to the scrapyard for some sprockets and linkage assembly and you too can have a robo-dog ready to walk in four weeks.  Well, maybe if you hire this guy to build it for you.  Check out the video below of this thing in action.
