The UFC “Fight for the Troops” event held yesterday night at Fayetteville, North Carolina more than lived up to the hype and the fighters did justice to their billing. The UFA which is the leading organization promoting mixed martial arts teamed up with Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund to support the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
The main fight of the evening featured welterweight Josh Koscheck against Yoshiyuki Yoshida of Japan. Koscheck knocked out Yoshida in the first round itself with the power of sledgehammer right. Two rights knocked the 4th degree Judo black belt out cold for the count.
Mike Swick put paid to Canadian Jonathan Goulet’s aspirations of a win in 33 seconds flat through a combination of hammer-fists and other blows after he had Goulet down with a short right hand. Steve Cantwell won his bout against Razak Al-Hassan using his grappling skills and in the process breaking his arm when he locked it in an armbar and Al-Hassan refused to submit. The match started with Al-Hassan coming out aggressively but a takedown move gone wrong spelled doom for him.
