Punisher: War Zone

The second movie in the Punisher series, Punisher: War Zone, is being released in theaters today.  The films are based on the Marvel Comics vigilante of the same name.  Ray Stevenson, a British actor, takes the lead role of Frank Castle, who was played by Thomas Jane in the first film.  There’s enough action and violence in this movie to warrant an R rating, which should also be enough to get any man’s adrenaline level pumping as well.  After the jump, more on the plot and a look at the trailers.

Punisher: War Zone is being produced under the Marvel Knights production umbrella, an arm of the Marvel comic universe dealing with more mature content than regular comics.  In this rendition of the Punisher, Frank Castle wages war on the mob and one boss in particular, nicknamed Jigsaw (you’ll catch a glimse of why in the trailer).  Apparently it is Castle who is responsible for Jigsaw’s appearance, hence the ensuing war for payback.  Of course, all the while this evil-doer manages to evade the likes of regular law enforcement and the FBI.  In the end it is up to the Punisher to take on this boss and settle the score once and for all.  Punisher: War Zone is sure to be a hit with fans of the comic as well as those who picked up the excitement of this franchise with the first movie released.
